The Cats Classic Golf Tournament is back for the 7th year supporting Montana State University Men's Lacrosse. This years event will be held on Friday, September 18th, at Valley View Golf Club. "Why not, Minot?" an annual event that brings together teams from Minnesota and Montana in late February. On Saturday, the Bobcats cruised to a 18-3 over the UMD Bulldogs backed by a complete team win. On Sunday, the Cats battled against UMLC rival St. Thomas but came up short in a 16-11 loss.
The Cats ended the Rocky Mountain Rumble 2-1 with nice wins over MSU Denver (19-3) and Cal State San Marcos (13-9) and an unfortunate loss to RMLC Rival Air Force (16-15). A loss is never an easy thing, but we were able to learn a lot about our team. With 6 starters leaving from the 2024 team, nerves were to be expected starting the season off against an Air Force team with a near identical roster as last year. Led by senior faceoff man Jack Causey (3G , the Cats took the battle to Air Force. Our offense appeared more fluid and balanced, and our defense won the ground ball and 1v1 challenges, but a loss is a loss. We are expecting to play Air Force again at least once, if not twice this season.
The Road to Round Rock wraps up in Big Sky Country as Montana State University will host the 2025 Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference Playoffs. On April 25th and 26th, four Division I teams and four Division II teams will compete at the Dobbie Lambert Turf Field for the RMLC Championship and a bid to the MCLA National Tournament.
The Road to Round Rock starts President's Day weekend with the Rocky Mountain Rumble in Denver, Co. After that the Cats travel to Minot, ND for a battle with the UMLC. In March, the Cats will play a series of RMLC conference games before taking on the Grizzlies for the Copper Cup. In April, the Cats will host College of Idaho before traveling to Glendive and Sheridan for conference games. April wraps up with the RMLC Championship the 25th-26th. The season concludes in Round Rock, Texas with the MCLA National Championship Tournament from May 5th-10th.
The 5th Annual Cats Lacrosse Alumni Weekend started off with a bang at the Cats Classic Golf Tournament at Bridger Creek on Friday. Saturday morning got the festivities started with the Blue vs Gold vs Old Games. After the games, the team enjoyed the tailgate and football game. During the football game, the 2024 National Championship Team was honored.
In its first visit to the MCLA Division II National Championship Game, No. 4 Montana State knocked off No. 2 St. Thomas, 12-7, to win the 2024 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance.
